The significance of your chinese name

Well, my Chinese name is 史育豪, the meaning of this name is to educate me to become a hero in the past. But in modern days now, it means to educate me to become a very smart person to contribute to the society. Although it seems that it is very exaggerating, but actually we can do it. Now, I am in Hwa Chong already, this school will groom me to become a successful leader through lots of training along the way. Well, that is the meaning of 育. Therefore, after going through all these trainings, I will be able to be a leader that will lead Singapore in this case, to soar for greater heights, and will the a person that everyone will remember and respect me for the left of their life. That is the meaning of 豪.

In conclusion, my name was came up by a geomancer so that I would be able to contribute to the society, and make my parents be the educator of this successful leader in the future.

Favourite memories of Chinese New Year

I think the best Chinese New Year I been through must be 2 years ago when I was in Primary school. I remembered everything was nicely set up, the whole was full of redness and glittering with gold. The celebration was even better! We have the dances from Chinese Dance and Malay Dance, we have teachers leading us singing the Chinese New Year songs, when all of us sang our hearts out and last but not least, we have teachers performing a dance from SNSD! The name of the song was "Gee" and they dance so cutely! This is the best part when all the teachers dressed like high school students, dancing and singing together on stage. All the students were cheering at the same time, mesmerized by the performance by my teachers, including me! Although this is a short 1 hour performance, it warms all of our heart with just 1 little memory of Chinese New Year, while this is 1 of my most memorable memory I had with the school, with all my friends.

Factors to led to my identity

There are many ways to have an identity. Race, the things you do, your characteristic, your personalities and many others significant things that you have left an big impression on other people. Identity of a person is what you need for people to recognize you, as for me, there are 2 factors that led to my identity. They are characteristics and race. I am always 2 sided feeling person? What does that mean? It means that I am very serious when I am doing work but very relax, playful and have fun when I am relaxing or playing. As for race, I feel very proud as a Chinese and that's why I am in a Chinese school. The Chinese values that my parents inculcate into my sister and I are very valuable and meaningful. They are able to guide us through life and making us know what is life. Although life may be classified under philosophy, but Chinese values and culture has explained some of it. Therefore, I hope that Chinese values and culture could be passed on to many other generations.
The two sided coin represents my characteristics, Confucius represents Chinese values while Chinese New Year represents Chinese culture.

Responsibility of Margot's treatment

I feel that the boy who asked her to get away from the window panes as he was the one who suggested to put her in the closet. But actually, all the children are responsible as they agreed to locked her up in the closet and helped him to execute this entire plan.

I would be the one stopping them from being so cruel to Margot. I would tell them about what Margot's have been through and hope that they would understand how much she anticipated for this day to come but if they insist in locking her in the closet, I would definitely fight with them. If I can't win them, I shall pull Margot along and escape from them and bring her to somewhere safe. If I have still have time, I would explain to her that what she has been doing was wrong, she should not keep everything to herself and must share with people. I would guide her to make friends with those children and all misunderstandings would be resolve. This would lead to a perfect and beautiful ending with everyone's relationship being very close and difficult to part. They would have the spirit of ALL FOR ONE AND ONE FOR ALL!

Project day

Let me tell what had happened last year during my project day’s competition. It is a BIG JOKE! There were originally 4 members in my team and suddenly there was 1 extra member into my group. My leader did not inform us about that, and he just put his name on. Most of us were quite unhappy already, but we thought that maybe he could help us by lightening our work load. But unfortunately, he throughout the whole year, has come for only 2 meetings, when we have like tons of meeting. In addition, he did not do a single thing at all! He made all of us, except the leader, damn pissed with him! The leader himself also did almost nothing too! Left with me and my best friend, doing like MAD, all the way till the morning of the project judging competition! And without any rehearsal, we stammered and wrecked up the whole project. This whole thing teaches me a lesson-Choice of group member is utterly important!

Comic Strip

LA COMIC STRIP
*This is my own creation but I do not know why is written as 2P206 above.

1.My image is supposed to relate this fiction story about these children going to the seaside for a swim, so these pictures and background best suits this plot.

2. All these pictures give readers a very clear view of what is happening and where is the setting as I chose this simple but clear pictures to show my characters and plot.

3. I used a desolate place as the setting to bring out the fact that never go to a place that has no one, you would easily bring danger to yourselves as many cases happens frequently when you are just alone or with a few friends with you. Although we may not meet a lot of people that wants to attack us, but we may have some that are overpowering, just like the monster! Therefore, in my last comic, a monster came out to wrap up my entire plot, character and setting so as to send out the message that danger could be around the corner when nobody is there. As for the individual facial expressions, it goes on with the story. It started with 2 friends going to a deserted seaside for a swim and when they were swimming happily in the sea, this monster jumped out and scared them out of their wits. I got this idea from what I have seen before in newspaper and serial drama of such scenes, which inspired me to write a one on my own! A little lack of creativity, but it was fun and interesting for me!

What are my learning goals for this year in Language Arts

Well, I did quite fine for last year's LA EOY as I got a nice A2 for the overall results. But frankly speaking, i am not quite happy with my results, as all my individual components for LA I just got a very lucky A2, and not a confirm one. What do I mean? My Composition, Comprehension and Literature are all of borderline A2, which is highly unacceptable for me! Therefore, I need to improve everything in LA which is a very tedious job for just 1 year but I would try my best. The tip from my teacher to excel in LA is to read, but Sec 2 life is very tedious and tiring. All sorts of activities just come one by one! So, can I even find time to read? Probably not...... But what I can do now is to listen very attentively in class, at least getting the basics of every component in LA, then do further study during the Holidays. This my only hope of getting a A1 for LA this year, would I be able to get what I wanted? It all depends on me now........

What is the most valuable thing I learnt in LA last year

The most valuable thing that I have learn in LA is all in Literature! Well, most of you may think that it will be the figurative language etc, but it is not! It is about the gist of the poem, the purpose of the poem written! And always, the poems taught always give a a short period of time to reflect what I have done that is somewhat related to the lessons that the poet is trying to bring out and whether did I do the things this way in life, or have I once even made this mistake when I did not even realize it! Therefore, what I learn most is the lessons in life from literature and I will always have all this lessons bared in mind, as a guide throughout my entire life. As for this year, I am excitingly anticipated on what am I going to learn, will it be as useful as last year? Would it be even better? Stay tuned......

My favourite book

Through this 13 years of life, I read many and countless books but out of all, I like 1 book, which is "It's Halloween, You 'Fraidy Mouse!" by Geronimo Stilton. Recalling that night was Halloween's eve, I was holding that book and reading it till midnight. It is the best atmosphere to read that book! Furthermore, there are interesting words and phrase inside this book and humorous events come up one after another! It made me finish the whole in just 1 night. In addition, the book still taught me how to design stuffs for Halloween! Therefore, I loved this book a lot! Well, but that was like 4-5 years ago, till now, I still haven't came across any books that is as filling as this but I would carry on searching, probably, in the next few years, I can come across this type of book again......

People unkind to me in a group

2. Have you ever been part of a group of people who were unkind to one or some individuals? What was the circumstance? How did you act? What did you feel?

This situation happened when I was in primary school, I still remember it was a December holidays, I was participating in a competition, working with few of my friends and seniors. The first day I went into the lab, my seniors did not even cared about my friend and I and just started doing their work on the competition. My friend and I just sit beside them and looked at that them doing their work. When I decided to give a little suggestion to improve on the mechanism, they just did not bother me and screamed at me,"Go away!" At that point of time, I left them sadly and went to the other side of the lab and did my own work, heartbroken and sad. I was thinking how can they be so bad towards me? How can they be so harsh against me? I almost broke down when my friend came over and said,"never mind, they will know it sooner or later that we play an important role in the group......"

Well, my sad story ended here, guess the ending! My seniors actually got scolded by my teacher in-charge and my seniors came to me personally and said sorry...... I just forgive them and we worked together even better to complete the entire mission and nearly emerged and champion!

Reflective explanation on a poem

Soft and gentle without a cause,
running towards a light that moves
Where to go after a pain like this and what to do
It’s hard to say the right thing at the right time
when all you want to do is express who you are.
Pain, sorrow and anger is all words create sometimes.
How do you know when to say a word or keep your mouth shut?

Kind words are less spoken in these times and
more and more people are hurt by it than actions
It dries a heart that was ones filled with love for others
and now where does it lead -
To dust and dust alone;

Caring has been put aside and
anger and deceit has risen instead
why does this occur in such a violent way
It opens doors that should have been kept shut
and closes doors that should be open;

One brick at a time they say
In the end the wall around you will be finished
and you’ll be safe from the world outside
Now the choice is, who to let in and who to keep out
So many people so little trust;

Open eyes closed mouth.
All you see is a fading life,
from colour to grey and grey to black
Slowly but surely life will seize to exist and
home is where I’m headed and
no one can stop it;

What is words if there is no meaning.
Words from the heart is better said
than words without a heart;

Reflection:
I find this poem very meaningful as it brings out what is the gist of life. Life is not always smooth sailing and along the way, you will definitely meet a lot of difficulties and obstacles down the road which make me feel to give up on what is on this world. Sometimes, I look at my parents working so hard, from day to night, trying to give us a nice and comfortable living at home but I have never known that how much must they suffer as a subordinate when they work. What I know how to do is to sit at home and think that money is very easy to earn, but I am wrong, totally wrong! I cannot imagine how much harsh words they will have to take to just earn that $3000. This poem made me think and reflect on my parents and life itself and try to understand the hardship my parents faced. What I can do now, is to lighten my parents' burden to not give them many problems.

Questions on Shel Silverstein

The Little Boy and the Old Man
1. Adults are neglecting the young and the old.
2. Conversation

Messy Room
1. Yes, all that stuff that he was scolding is directed back to himself.
2. We are always good at pinpointing at other's mistake but not thinking whether we ourselves do that same mistake.

Cloony The Clown

1. The purpose of Cloony telling his story was to get pity from the audience but it lead to them laughing crazily.
2. Yes, it has revealed 2 harsh realities.
3. Assonance, repetition and rhythm

Questions on BIG FISH of Tim Burton film

1. A person that is very important in a certain location.
2. It is difficult to find true love.
3. Edward is very interested and want to know more about the tale when he was a boy. But as he grow up, he finds it more and more irritating and boring.
4. It is important to know that a true love is very difficult to find and to keep it in mind that to treasure your true love when it appears.
5. Edward loves his son as he kept on reminding him about this important lesson in life but William just does not appreciate it.
6. My father just told him his lessons learn when he past through his life and all it contained was valuable lessons that I can and must learn as I grow up.
7.Yes, it does. No, a tall tale shows us how the whole process goes and makes us be stepping into the person's shoes and try to feel what the person at that time will feel, it makes us understand more about the facts but if you just tell the person the fact, he may find it uninteresting and boring, therefore, will not be able to bear this lesson in mind.

Thoughts on Cloony the clown by Shel Silverstein

Well, this poem is very meaningful for me as this poem conveyed some harsh realities that we, human, would need to face after all. For the first half of the poem, it is talking about Cloony doing all sort of actions that could not make the audience laugh therefore, he cannot earn a single cent! But relate this situation back to reality and indeed, not everything we do could succeed even if a lot of effort is put into what you have done just like Cloony the clown. This is a harsh fact to accept when you seriously put in so much heart and soul in this work and many people will become very disappointed and depressed from this situation. But this failure is what you need to face and we will definitely need to stand up again and continue our life. As for the 2nd part of the poem, after Cloony told his own story to the audience, they laugh instead of cry. This tells me that not everyone in the world would pity what you have gone through and they would just laugh and hurt you even more! At that point of time, you will feel very down, sometimes even thinking that living on this world is of no purpose but what I want to tell you, never have such a mentality! You can be down for a while but the most important is to stand up again and show them that you CAN make it! Prove it to those who laugh and mock at you!

First day of LA lesson in 2011

Well, it is a brand new year to start with LA again! Excited? A little, perhaps, as I get to go through the wonderful adventures in Literature. The only thing I do not like is the assessments on LA. It is going to BURNED out all my BRAIN CELLS and drained away all my marks as it actually happened to me last year. But I will never let history repeat itself again, this year, I am aiming and work hard to get exempted from LA, which is near impossible, but it is worth a try. This mean that I have to get an average of 75 marks for all 3 terms and this 1st term is on Comprehension. It is not actually the killing part of LA for me, therefore, I shall try and make this term a nice A1 as I never know what is down the road throughout the whole year. This is my 1st target, will I be able to make it? Hmm..... probably I'm able to make it and I hope that I make it! If not, there goes my exemption for LA!!! Even if I do score an A1 this term, I must continue the spirit and hard work so that it would be a difficult but worthy year that I shall go through.
